Jutun tahti oli epätasapainoisen, kuten rullakorin matka liian monella kirjakauppa pysähtymisellä ja aloituksilla, mikä teki se vaikeaksi ylläpitää tasapuolista osallistumistasota. Tarinan lähestyessä loppuaan tunsin menetyksen tunteen, ikään kuin olisin jättämässä taakseni osan suomi pienen palan sielustani.
Vaikka se ei ollutkaan täydellinen, kirja oli kiinnostava ja syvä ihmisen tarina, joka tutki suhteiden, rakkauden kirjallisuutta identiteetin monimutkaisuutta ja nuostumusta tavalla, joka tuntui autenttiselta ja ymmärrettävältä. Se oli kirja, joka haastoi käsitykseni, pakotti minut näkemään maailman uudessa valossa ja jätti minut tunteeksi…muuttuneeksi, kuten puu, Kuin surmaisi satakielen on muuttunut ajan tuulien muokkaamana. Tarinalla on voimakas muistutus siitä, miten kirjallisuus voi vaikuttaa elämäämme, haastaa oletuksemme ja laajentaa näkökulmamme, auttaa meitä tulemaan empaattisemmiksi ja avoimempimieliisiksi ihmisiksi, mikä on todella merkittävää.
